Atomic Physics
Lesson notes
Learning Objectives
Indicator: 3.4.1.LI.4 - Identify sectors where x-rays are applied and how they are applied
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify at least five distinct sectors where x-rays are applied, including medical, industrial, security, research and art restoration.
- Explain the specific application of x-rays in at least three medical procedures (e.g., radiography, CT scans, radiotherapy) and how each works.
- Describe how x-rays are used in industry for quality control, particularly in weld inspection and metal casting.
- Evaluate given scenarios and suggest which sector and type of x-ray application would be appropriate.
- Work collaboratively in groups to research and present one real-world application of x-rays using digital tools.
