Learning Objectives

Indicator: B4.1.8.2.1 - Use positive tags, negative tags and auxiliaries in speech

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Define a question tag and identify it in a spoken sentence.
  2. Form a negative tag after a positive statement (e.g., “You are coming, aren’t you?”) using the correct auxiliary verb.
  3. Form a positive tag after a negative statement (e.g., “She is not tired, is she?”) using the correct auxiliary verb.
  4. Answer tag questions correctly with both “Yes” and “No” responses, matching the auxiliary verb used.
  5. Use appropriate intonation (rising for real questions, falling for confirmation) when asking tag questions during pair work and role play.
