Learning Objectives

Indicator: B3.1.8.1.2 - Use appropriate pronunciation and intonation in asking and answering the inversion questions

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify inversion questions in a given sentence and state how their word order differs from statements.
  2. Form inversion questions correctly from given statements (e.g., “She is reading” becomes “Is she reading?”).
  3. Ask inversion questions using a rising intonation at the end of the question.
  4. Answer inversion questions with short answers (“Yes, she is.” / “No, she is not.”) and full-sentence answers where appropriate.
  5. Practise asking and answering inversion questions in pairs using appropriate pronunciation and intonation.
