Learning Objectives

Indicator: B3.1.8.1.1 - Ask and answer questions for clarifications about given topics

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify questions that ask for clarification (questions that begin with “What do you mean?”, “Can you explain?”, “Why?”, “How?”) from a list of mixed questions.
  2. Ask at least two clarification questions about a given topic during a group discussion.
  3. Answer clarification questions from peers by restating or explaining their point in simpler words.
  4. Follow basic rules of conversation (taking turns, listening before speaking, staying on topic) while asking and answering questions.
  5. Use clarification questions to gain a better understanding of an unfamiliar topic in a short discussion.
