Learning Objectives

Indicator: 1.1.1.LI.2 - Analyse the impact of artworks from ancient cultures on modern global art.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify at least three features or techniques from ancient Egyptian, Greek, and Roman art that appear in modern global artworks.
  2. Compare and contrast one ancient artwork with one modern artwork, documenting at least two similarities and two differences in form and content.
  3. Explain, with specific examples, how ancient artistic methods such as fresco painting, relief sculpture, and naturalistic portraiture influenced modern art movements.
  4. Work in mixed-ability groups to present a reasoned analysis of how one ancient culture’s art contributed to a specific modern art form or movement.
  5. Reflect critically on the value of preserving and studying ancient art traditions in shaping contemporary Ghanaian and global artistic identity.
