Lesson notes

Learning Objectives

Indicator: B6.1.4.7.2

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Display and talk about visual artworks (their own or others’) that reflect the physical and social environments of communities in the world, using the agreed appreciation guidelines developed in earlier lessons.
  2. Analyse artworks dispassionately by commenting on theme, subject matter, media, techniques, elements and principles of design, and the social, aesthetic, cultural and functional values they see.
  3. Present a spoken or written report as feedback on at least one artwork, giving balanced comments that include both strengths and areas for improvement.
  4. Use the outcome of their appreciation to modify their own artwork or to plan a similar new artwork.
  5. Document the activity with photographs or short video clips and share the report using an accepted social media platform agreed by the class.

Source document note

The official curriculum document has a fault in this entry, so the curriculum text above is transcribed exactly as printed:

  • indicator text - p.126: this indicator is coded B6 1.4.7, strand 1 (Visual Arts), but its own wording is about performing arts ("international performing artists", "performing artworks"), the page heading above it reads "Strand 2: Performing Arts", and B6 2.4.7 on printed pp 128-129 covers the same three topics for Performing Arts. All three indicators of B6 1.4.7 (printed pp 126 and 127) have this problem. Transcribed as printed; strand_code follows the indicator code
