Indicator: B5.1.4.7.3

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Identify at least three topical issues of much concern in Africa that are reflected in selected visual artworks
Analyse a visual artwork using agreed guidelines, covering subject matter, media, techniques, elements and principles of design, and functional value
Present a verbal or written report as feedback on an artwork, speaking dispassionately and constructively
Modify an existing artwork or produce a new one based on feedback received during the appraisal process
Share a recorded report or photograph of the activity using an agreed social media platform with teacher guidance and parental consent

Indicator: B5.1.4.7.3 - Analyse and appreciate own or others' visual artworks and present reports as feedback on artworks that reflect topical issues of much concern in Africa
Suggested placement: Term 3, Week 10 (Week 34 of the year)

Exemplars (from the NaCCA curriculum)

Learners are to:
- display (real/photographs/video) selected works (own or that of others) that reflect current topical issues of much concern in Africa;
- talk about the works dispassionately using agreed guidelines;
- use the outcome of the appreciation/appraisal to modify the product or to produce similar or another artwork;
- record/document the activity and share using an accepted social media by the class/group (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, WhatsApp).
