Lesson notes

Learning Objectives

Indicator: B4.1.4.7.1 - Analyse and appreciate own and others’ visual artworks based on the developed guidelines and present own reports as feedback on the artworks that reflect the history and culture of the people of Ghana

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Use the guidelines developed in earlier lessons (theme, subject matter, media, techniques, elements and principles of design, social, aesthetic, cultural and functional values) to analyse at least two visual artworks that reflect Ghanaian history and culture.
  2. Present a clear spoken or written report on an artwork, giving feedback that is respectful, factual and based on the guidelines rather than personal likes or dislikes.
  3. Identify at least three cultural or historical elements in an artwork (for example, Adinkra symbols, kente patterns, traditional festivals, historical events) and explain what they represent.
  4. Suggest one modification or improvement to an artwork based on the appraisal, explaining the reason for the suggestion.
  5. Record a brief report of the appraisal activity and share it with the class using an agreed social media platform, following the class rules for online safety.
