Agricultural Machineries
Lesson notes
Learning Objectives
Indicator: 2.1.3.LI.1 - Identify and classify different types of machinery used in arable crop (cereals, legumes, and tuber crops) production.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify at least eight different types of farm machinery and hand tools used in arable crop production from pictures, videos, or real objects.
- State the primary function of each identified machine (e.g., tractor for pulling, plough for primary tillage, planter for sowing).
- Classify farm machinery into logical groups based on their use, such as land preparation, planting, crop maintenance, and harvesting equipment.
- Distinguish between simple hand tools, animal-drawn implements, and engine-powered machinery, giving at least two examples of each.
- Justify the choice of a specific machine or tool for a given farm operation, explaining why it is more suitable than an alternative (strategic reasoning).
