Learning Objectives

Indicator: B8.3.2.1.1 - Use historical narratives to investigate the causes and effects of conflicts in Ghana

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Explain the meaning of conflict and distinguish between healthy disagreement and destructive conflict.
Identify at least four causes of inter-ethnic conflicts in pre-colonial Ghana using historical narratives.
Analyse the effects of pre-colonial inter-ethnic conflicts on the people and communities involved.
Describe how Ghanaian groups used diplomacy, alliances and other peaceful means to resolve disputes and maintain stability.
Work collaboratively in mixed-ability and mixed-gender groups to investigate historical conflicts and present findings to the class.
