Learning Objectives
Indicator: B8.1.4.1.1 - Examine the role of the individual in community development.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Explain the concepts of individual, community, and community development in their own words with local examples.
- Compare different levels of individual participation in community engagements shown in pictures or documentaries.
- Discuss how personal values, vision, initiative, and drive contribute to community development using the think-group-share technique.
- Identify specific problems in their own community and propose practical ways they, as individuals, can contribute to solving them.
- State at least two factors to consider when the community makes decisions about development projects.

1. Using the thought shower technique, learners explain the concepts: i. individual ii. community iii. community development. 2. Learners watch documentaries/pictures on different community engagements and compare individual participation levels. 3. Using think-group-share, learners discuss how individual values, vision, initiative and drive contribute to community development. 4. Using the question-and-answer strategy, learners discuss the factors to be considered in the community decision-making process. 5. Invite a resource person to assist learners in discussing the importance of community development. 6. Using the question-and-answer strategy, learners identify the community's specific problems and show how they can contribute to solving them.
