Indicator: B7.6.1.1.2 - Explore the early interactions between Europeans and the indigenous people

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Describe at least three ways in which the Portuguese and other Europeans first interacted with the indigenous people of the Gold Coast.
Explain the significance of the meeting between the Portuguese and Nana Kwamena Ansa I of Elmina.
Identify the items Europeans brought to the Gold Coast and the local goods they exchanged for them.
Locate on a map the areas where Europeans first settled, including Elmina, Cape Coast, and Accra.
State the purposes served by some castles and forts built by Europeans along the coast.
