Learning Objectives

Indicator: B7.6.1.1.1 - Examine the coming of Europeans to the Gold Coast.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify at least five European countries that sailed to the Gold Coast and locate their home countries on a historical map.
  2. Arrange the major European nations in the chronological order in which they arrived on the Gold Coast.
  3. State at least three reasons why Europeans came to the Gold Coast.
  4. Work cooperatively in mixed-ability groups to research and present findings on European arrival.
