Indicator: B7.3.3.2.1 - Examine the nature of modern political institutions in Ghana.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Define the concepts of political institutions, power, and authority in their own words with accurate examples from Ghana.
  2. Identify and describe the three main types of modern political institutions in Ghana: the Executive, the Legislature, and the Judiciary.
  3. Explain the primary functions of each of the three arms of government in Ghana.
  4. Discuss how the exercise of power and authority affects the effectiveness and credibility of political institutions.
  5. Appreciate the importance of each institution working within its mandate for the stability of Ghana’s democracy.
