Learning Objectives

Indicator: B7.4.1.1.1 - Identify indigenous medicinal plants used in the pre-colonial era to provide health care.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Name at least five indigenous medicinal plants used in pre-colonial Ghana and the ailments they treated.
  2. Match pictures or real samples of local medicinal plants to the diseases they cured in the pre-colonial era.
  3. Explain the concept of traditional medicine and describe its importance in pre-colonial Ghanaian society.
  4. Work collaboratively in mixed groups to share knowledge about medicinal plants and respect the contributions of all team members.
  5. Express appreciation for indigenous knowledge systems as part of Ghanaian cultural identity and heritage.
