Learning Objectives

Indicator: 2.3.1.LI.4 - Demonstrate command of Adverbial Clauses in sentences for communicative purposes.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Define an adverbial clause and distinguish it from a single adverb or an adverbial phrase.
  2. Identify adverbial clauses in given sentences and name the type (time, place, manner, reason, purpose, condition, concession, result).
  3. Transform two simple sentences into one complex sentence using an appropriate subordinating conjunction to form an adverbial clause.
  4. Use at least three different types of adverbial clauses correctly in original spoken sentences during a class activity.
  5. Write a short paragraph of five to seven sentences that includes adverbial clauses of time, reason, and condition, and explain the function of each clause used.
