Lesson notes

Learning Objectives

Indicator: 3.2.2.LI.1 - Analyse multiple media processes and techniques used in creating 2-Dimensional artworks in the environment.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify at least five distinct media processes and techniques (both analogue and digital) used to create 2-Dimensional artworks, citing specific examples seen in their school, community, or Ghanaian creative industries.
  2. Describe the key characteristics of at least three media processes (drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, digital imaging, and others) and explain what makes each process unique.
  3. Compare and contrast analogue and digital media processes by examining how each is used to address a societal problem, using at least two points of similarity and two points of difference.
  4. Analyse a provided 2-D artwork (realia, photograph, or digital image) by reverse-engineering the likely materials, tools, and techniques used to produce it, with supporting reasoning.
  5. Participate in generating a class scrapbook, manual or digital, that documents at least five 2-D artworks created using multiple media processes and techniques, with short written commentary on each.

Exemplars (from the NaCCA curriculum)

Talk for Learning: In a class interaction, share personal experiences in the use of multiple media processes and techniques for creating 2-Dimensional artworks.
Group work/ Collaborative Learning ;: - In small groups/ whole-class interaction, use realia, photos and videos to discuss how multiple media processes and techniques have been used to create 2-D art and design works.
Project-Based Learning: In mixed-ability groups generate a manual/digital scrapbook of 2-D artworks created using multiple media processes and techniques.

Assessment (3.2.2.AS.1). The document marks these depth-of-knowledge levels for this indicator: Level 1 Recall; Level 2 Skills of conceptual understanding; Level 3 Strategic reasoning; Level 4 Extended critical thinking and reasoning.
