Learning Objectives

Indicator: 3.1.1.LI.2 - Investigate the art business registration, its importance and implication on art studio practice.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. List at least five steps involved in registering an art and design business in Ghana under the Registration of Business Names Act, 1962 (Act 151) and the Companies Act, 2019 (Act 992).
  2. Distinguish between registering a sole proprietorship business name and registering a limited liability company, stating one key difference in the process and requirements.
  3. Explain three importance of registering an art and design business for a studio practitioner, using examples relevant to their own studio practice.
  4. Analyse two implications of operating an unregistered art and design business in Ghana, citing potential legal, financial or reputational consequences.
  5. Prepare a simple checklist or action plan for registering a small art and design studio business in Ghana.
