Thinking Studio
Lesson notes
Learning Objectives
Indicator: 2.2.1.LI.2 - Analyse multiple approaches, material combinations, and techniques for the work, as well as the appropriate mode of presentations
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify and describe at least three different material combinations and techniques used in recreating a selected antique Ghanaian artwork, citing specific examples of Ghanaian artists and their works.
- Compare and contrast at least two different approaches (for example, 2D media versus 3D assemblage, manual versus digital) for recreating the same antique artwork, explaining the strengths and limitations of each.
- Analyse how material choices affect the meaning, visual impact, and durability of a recreated antique artwork, using evidence from studio experiments and group discussions.
- Build a small-scale dummy (maquette) of a proposed mixed media recreation of an antique artwork, testing and documenting material combinations and techniques.
- Justify the choice of an appropriate mode of presentation for their mixed media work, considering audience, purpose, and setting, and present their reasoning orally or in writing.
