Learning Objectives

Indicator: 1.1.2.LI.3 - Discuss the basic methods for preparing and storing art media

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Explain at least three reasons why proper preparation and storage of art media are important for the quality and lifespan of artworks.
  2. Describe the basic preparation methods for at least four categories of art media (clay, pigments/dyes, canvas/fabric, and carving materials).
  3. Demonstrate correct storage practices for different art media, including labeling, wrapping, and environmental considerations.
  4. Prepare a small batch of clay or pigment for studio use, following the correct steps.
  5. Work collaboratively in mixed-ability groups to produce a pictorial chart showing preparation and storage methods for different art media categories.
