Learning Objectives

Indicator: 1.1.2.LI.1 - Discuss art materials according to nature, technique and purpose

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify at least five art materials found in their immediate environment and state their natural sources (e.g., clay from the ground, dyes from plants).
  2. Classify given art materials under the correct categories of nature: natural, manufactured, or synthetic.
  3. Match art materials to the techniques for which they are most suitable (e.g., modelling, carving, casting, printmaking).
  4. Explain the purpose of at least three art materials in relation to the final artwork produced (2-D or 3-D).
  5. Work collaboratively in mixed-ability and gender-balanced groups to produce a pictorial chart classifying community artworks by material, nature, technique, and purpose.
