Learning Objectives

Indicator: 1.1.3.LI.2 - Explain ways by which the Performing Arts [DANCE, MUSIC, DRAMA, or a collaboration] are connected and related to the other art forms in the Ghanaian society.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Identify at least four art forms in Ghanaian society other than the Performing Arts and describe briefly what each one involves.
Explain, with specific Ghanaian examples, at least three ways in which music, dance, or drama connects with visual arts, literary arts, or architecture.
Analyse a given Ghanaian festival or ceremony and trace the connections between the Performing Arts and other art forms present in that event.
Work collaboratively in mixed groups to present a short oral explanation of the relationships between Performing Arts and other arts, using appropriate Performing Arts terminology.
Justify why an understanding of the links between Performing Arts and other art forms strengthens social interaction and cultural identity in Ghana.

Content standard: 1.1.3.CS.1 - 1.1.3.CS.1 Demonstrate approaching proficiency level skills to clearly communicate the various Performing Arts processes [DANCE, MUSIC, DRAMA, or a collaboration], using appropriate language, and making connections to the relationships between Performing Arts and other arts. 1.1.3.LO.1 Use varying Performing Arts language forms and mechanics that communicate the emerging Ghanaian topical issues meaningfully to enhance social interactions, connect to the other arts and everyday life experiences.
Indicator: 1.1.3.LI.2 - Explain ways by which the Performing Arts [DANCE, MUSIC, DRAMA, or a collaboration] are connected and related to the other art forms in the Ghanaian society.
