Lesson notes
Learning Objectives
Indicator: 3.3.3.LI.4 - Make Pattern adjustments and alterations
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Explain the difference between pattern adjustment and pattern alteration using at least two concrete garment examples.
- Identify common garment fitting problems (e.g., tight shoulders, short waist, narrow hips) and match each problem to the appropriate pattern adjustment technique.
- Demonstrate at least three pattern adjustment techniques on a paper pattern, such as lengthening, shortening, widening, or narrowing, with accurate measurements.
- Apply pattern alteration techniques to modify a basic pattern for a specific vocational garment, such as a nurse’s uniform, chef’s apron, or security guard shirt.
- Justify the choice of a particular adjustment or alteration method for a given garment fitting problem, explaining the reasoning in a group presentation.
