SHS3 Design And Communication Technology · Semester 1, Week 11
Plane Geometry
Lesson notes
Learning Objectives
Indicator: 3.2.1.LI.2 - Draw auxiliary elevation and plan (primary) of given objects.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- State the purpose of an auxiliary elevation and an auxiliary plan in technical drawing.
- Identify the correct direction of sight (arrow) needed to produce a primary auxiliary view of a given object.
- Draw the primary auxiliary elevation of a given object using the fold-line (reference line) method with appropriate drawing instruments.
- Draw the primary auxiliary plan of a given object using the fold-line (reference line) method with appropriate drawing instruments.
- Measure and transfer true lengths, widths and heights accurately from given orthographic views to auxiliary views.

Managing talk for learning, Activity- based learning: 1. Demonstrate the construction of primary auxiliary elevation and plan to learners using appropriate drawing instruments 2. Help learners individually to construct primary auxiliary elevation and plan of given objects using the appropriate drawing instruments. Assessment (3.2.1.AS.2). The document marks these depth-of-knowledge levels for this indicator: Level 3 Strategic reasoning.
