Learning Objectives
Indicator: 2.3.1.LI.2 - Make freehand sketches of elevations of simple domestic buildings in relation to their plans.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify the four principal elevations (north, south, east, west) of a simple domestic building from a given floor plan.
- Explain how features on a floor plan (doors, windows, roof pitch, veranda) translate to their corresponding positions on an elevation.
- Make a freehand sketch of at least one elevation of a simple domestic building, correctly placed in relation to the plan.
- Compare and contrast the four elevations of the same building, noting where they are similar and where they differ.
- Justify the choice of scale and proportion used in their freehand elevation sketch, showing strategic reasoning.
