Learning Objectives
Indicator: 2.2.3.LI.1 - Use various geometric shapes to create complex fractal designs.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Define fractal geometry and identify the key characteristic of self-similarity in natural and man-made objects.
- Identify at least four geometric shapes (e.g., triangle, square, rectangle, circle, hexagon) that can serve as building blocks for fractal designs.
- Describe the step-by-step process of creating a simple fractal design, such as a Sierpinski triangle or a Koch snowflake.
- Create a manual or digital pictorial chart showing how a chosen geometric shape can be repeatedly subdivided to generate a fractal pattern.
- Work collaboratively in groups to generate and present a fractal design based on a geometric shape, explaining the rule of repetition used.
