Design and Realisation

Lesson notes

Learning Objectives

Indicator: 2.1.4.LI.2 - Make a neat working drawing.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Define a working drawing and state its purpose in the design and realisation process, building on the exploded views they drew in Week 10.
  2. Identify the standard components of a neat working drawing, including title block, dimensions, scale, and line types.
  3. Apply correct line conventions (visible outline, hidden detail, centre line, dimension line) when preparing a working drawing of a simple artefact.
  4. Produce a neat working drawing of a wooden artefact (a simple stool or book rack) to scale, with accurate dimensions and a title block.
  5. Justify, through group critique, why neatness, accuracy, and clarity in working drawings are critical for successful construction of an artefact.
