Pattern Design
Lesson notes
Learning Objectives
Indicator: 2.1.3.LI.3 - Finalise the 2-dimensional template and pattern design.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Present their completed 2-dimensional freehand-drawn templates and patterns to peers and clearly explain the design process they followed.
- Record constructive criticisms and suggestions from peer feedback during class presentations.
- Apply peer feedback to make specific improvements and refinements to their 2-dimensional templates and patterns.
- Write a short group report explaining the process used to create their designs and describing how their templates and patterns could benefit the community.
- Demonstrate the finalised, polished versions of their templates and patterns with clean, complete and accurate line work.

Managing Talk for Learning: 1. Learners in their groups present their developed 2-dimensional free hand-drawn templates and patterns in class and record criticisms and suggestions from their peers. 2. Learners should look at their work objectively with their peers for things they can improve. They should also gather feedback from their peers. Group work/Collaborative Learning, Problem-based Learning: Learners In small groups use the feedback they receive from their peers in class discussion to make their drawings better. Group work/Collaborative Learning, Project-based Learning: Learners in small groups write a report explaining how they made their drawings and demonstrate how their 2-dimensional free hand-drawn templates and patterns can be useful for the community. Assessment (2.1.3.AS.3). The document marks these depth-of-knowledge levels for this indicator: Level 1 Recall; Level 2 Skills of conceptual understanding; Level 3 Strategic reasoning; Level 4 Extended critical thinking and reasoning. Teaching and Learning Materials: - Models - Charts - reference books - drawing studio - access to internet - LCD Projector - sketches. - Pencils - Sketch pads - Erasers - Pencil sharpener - Drawing pens or ink - Blending stumps - Charcoal
