Learning Objectives
Indicator: 2.3.2.LI.1 - Discuss closed-chains, velocity and trajectory as they are used in mechanics.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Define closed-chain, velocity, and trajectory in their own words and distinguish between them using examples from robot construction.
- Explain the difference between average and instantaneous velocity, and compute both from given position and time data.
- Calculate average speed, average velocity, and average acceleration for simple robot motion scenarios.
- Plot position and velocity against time for a simple trajectory and interpret the shape of the graphs.
- Discuss why closed-chain designs (such as the human arm or a four-bar linkage) are useful in robot construction.
