Indicator: 2.3.4.LI.1 - Examine the measures for managing floods in Ghana
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Define flood and explain at least three causes of floods in Ghanaian communities.
- Identify and map at least two flood-prone areas in their community, district, or region using printed maps or digital applications.
- Describe at least four structural and non-structural measures for managing floods in Ghana.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of at least two flood management measures in a given Ghanaian context, considering their strengths and limitations.
- Develop a simple community flood preparedness plan that includes prevention, response, and recovery actions.

Experiential learning: View/watch pictures/video or other resources on floods, brainstorm on the definition of flood. Learners share their observations with whole class. Talk for Learning: Through think-pair-share, discuss the causes of floods in our communities/districts/Ghana. Activity-Based Learning: - In pairs, identify low lying areas or water channels of within the community. - Using printed maps or computer or smart phone Apps, map areas that are prone to floods in your community, district or region. In groups, learners with strong characters should be aware of it in order not to abuse the emotions of other members. Assessment (2.3.4.AS.1).
