Learning Objectives
Indicator: 2.3.2.LI.2 - Discuss the importance and challenges of manufacturing industries in Ghana
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Explain at least four importance of manufacturing industries to the Ghanaian economy, including employment, income generation, import substitution and regional development.
- Identify and describe at least five challenges facing manufacturing industries in Ghana, such as inadequate capital, high cost of energy, competition from imported goods, obsolete machinery and poor infrastructure.
- Propose practical solutions to the challenges facing manufacturing industries in Ghana, justifying each solution with reasoning.
- Work collaboratively in mixed groups to research and present findings on the challenges facing manufacturing industries, using mind maps to organise their ideas.
- Demonstrate appreciation for made-in-Ghana goods and show empathy towards workers and business owners in the manufacturing sector.
