Learning Objectives
Indicator: 1.3.4.LI.1 - Differentiate between hazards and disasters
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Define the terms “hazard” and “disaster” in their own words, distinguishing clearly between the two concepts.
- Classify given events or situations in Ghana as either hazards or disasters, justifying their classification with reasons.
- Explain how a hazard can escalate into a disaster, using at least one local or national example.
- Discuss the relationship between hazards, vulnerability and disasters, demonstrating strategic reasoning about cause and effect.
- Identify types of hazards common in their own community and in Ghana, showing awareness of their local environment.
