Relation of Forms

Lesson notes

Learning Objectives

Indicator: 3.3.3.LI.1 - Organise and create drawings by relating basic contours and forms in simple objects in the environment using non-conventional materials.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  • Distinguish between conventional media (pencils, charcoal, brushes) and non-conventional media (cotton buds, twigs, cardboard scraps, fabric, sponge, string) for objective drawing.
  • Identify basic contours and forms in simple objects found in their environment, such as a water bottle, gourd, shoe, or fruit.
  • Organise and create an objective drawing by relating the contours and forms of at least two simple objects, using at least one non-conventional material as the drawing tool or surface.
  • Explain in a class discussion how their choice of non-conventional material affects the texture, line quality and overall expression of the drawing.
  • Self-assess and peer-assess completed drawings using simple criteria focused on contour accuracy, form relationship and creative use of materials.
