Learning Objectives
Indicator: 3.2.2.LI.2 - Analyse and articulate stages of art criticism.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- List the sequential stages of art criticism (description, analysis, interpretation, and judgement) in the correct order and explain why the sequence matters.
- Analyse a selected local artwork by moving through each stage of art criticism in order, using appropriate art vocabulary at each stage.
- Articulate the difference between objective description and subjective judgement when critiquing an artwork.
- Defend a personal judgement of an artwork using evidence gathered from the earlier stages of description, analysis, and interpretation.
- Construct a simple chart or mind map showing the hierarchy and relationships among the stages of art criticism.
