Learning Objectives
Indicator: 3.2.2.LI.1 - Identify and explain various aspects of art criticism.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Define the five aspects of art criticism: aesthetic questioning, formal analysis, historical analysis, contextual analysis, and audience judgement.
- Explain the purpose of each aspect and the type of information it seeks from an artwork.
- Differentiate between the five aspects by matching sample questions and observations to the correct category.
- Create a mind map, chart, or table that organises the key questions and focus areas for each aspect of art criticism.
- Apply at least three aspects of art criticism to a familiar Ghanaian artwork or cultural object during class discussion.
