Learning Objectives
Indicator: 3.2.1.LI.1 - Categorise ethical issues associated with art and design.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Define ethics in the context of art and design, and give at least two examples of ethical issues raised by artworks they have seen or know about.
- Identify and name at least six distinct ethical issue categories associated with art and design, including gender and race, environment, animal rights, exploitation, social justice, and repatriation.
- Sort given case studies of artworks or design products into the correct ethical issue category using a table or chart.
- Justify their categorisation of an ethical issue in a short oral or written explanation, referring to specific features of the artwork or design.
- Work in a mixed group to produce a poster that visually categorises ethical issues in art and design with at least one example of art per category.
