Learning Objectives

Indicator: 3.1.1.LI.1 - Reflect and document contemporary Ghanaian Art in terms of materials, fabrication methods, applications, and educational relevance.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Define contemporary Ghanaian art and identify the period it covers (2001 to the present) with at least three distinguishing characteristics.
  2. Name at least five contemporary Ghanaian artists and describe the materials and fabrication methods they use in their works.
  3. Sort contemporary Ghanaian artworks into categories based on their materials, methods of fabrication, use, and socio-cultural relevance.
  4. Document a contemporary Ghanaian artwork of their choice using photographs, written notes, and a simple classification chart that records materials, fabrication methods, applications, and educational relevance.
  5. Explain why documenting contemporary Ghanaian art matters for education, national identity, and the preservation of Ghanaian cultural heritage.
