Learning Objectives
Indicator: 1.2.2.LI.2 - Analyse the combination of artistic form and content to make artistic decisions.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Explain how artistic form (elements and principles) and content (subject matter and meaning) work together in a selected artwork, using at least two specific examples.
- Analyse a given artwork by identifying at least three form elements and two content elements, and stating how they combine to create overall meaning.
- Make and justify an artistic decision about a work, such as whether it is successful, appropriate for a space, or worth preserving, with reasons drawn from both form and content.
- Work collaboratively in mixed-ability groups to produce a categorisation chart that sorts form elements and content elements from at least four selected artworks.
- Present a brief verbal appreciation of one artwork to the class, showing how form and content influenced the group’s artistic judgment.
