- Compare and contrast indigenous African artworks with artworks from at least two other world cultures (for example, European or Meso-American) using materials, methods, and socio-cultural contexts.
- Explain, using specific examples, how African masks, textiles, and sculptures influenced prominent non-African artists such as Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, and Amedeo Modigliani.
- Justify, orally and in writing, why indigenous African art should be viewed as a significant contributor to global art history rather than as a lesser or “primitive” tradition.
- Apply knowledge of African art’s global impact to create a small visual or written analysis piece that links an indigenous African artwork to a modern global art form.
