SHS2 Applied Technology · Semester 2, Week 20
Electronic Components and Circuits
Lesson notes
Learning Objectives
Indicator: 2.5.2.LI.12 - Apply knowledge of electronic components in designing circuits
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Explain the function of each major electronic component (resistor, capacitor, transistor, diode, and cell) in a circuit design context.
- Select appropriate component values (resistance, capacitance, transistor type) for a given circuit function, such as a fire alarm or rain alarm.
- Design a simple electronic circuit schematic for a specified application using the correct component symbols and connections.
- Justify component choices in a circuit design by referring to the component’s electrical characteristics (e.g., voltage rating, gain, polarity).
- Simulate a designed circuit using Multisim software and verify that the circuit performs the intended function.
