Learning Objectives
Indicator: 2.4.2.LI.1 - Apply Computer Aided Design [CAD] in designing and making of artefacts
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Explain the purpose and benefits of using Computer Aided Design (CAD) in woodwork artefact production.
- Use basic CAD tools to draw at least two possible design solutions for a given situation and brief.
- Develop one chosen design idea into a detailed CAD drawing, applying correct dimensioning and annotation.
- Produce a CAD-generated working drawing of their final design solution.
- Present and justify their CAD designs to the class, demonstrating open-mindedness and constructive feedback skills.
Note: Working drawings in orthographic projection (first or third angle) are scheduled for the next lesson (2.4.2.LI.2). This lesson focuses on using CAD for design generation, development and the final solution drawing, with simple 2D drawings rather than full orthographic projections.
