Learning Objectives

Indicator: 2.3.2.LI.6 - Discuss formwork.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Define formwork in their own words and explain its purpose in building construction.
Identify and describe at least five common materials used to prepare formwork, stating the advantage of each.
State and explain at least four functions of formwork in the construction of substructures such as foundations and columns.
Distinguish between formwork and shuttering, and explain the term “falsework” as it relates to formwork support.
Work collaboratively in mixed-ability groups to discuss and present the functions of formwork, showing respect for diverse opinions.
