SHS2 Applied Technology · Semester 1, Week 13
Welding Technology
Lesson notes
Learning Objectives
Indicator: 2.2.2.LI.5 - Generate and outline the sequence of operations involved in the making of artefacts.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- List at least five operations in the correct order for making a sheet metal artefact, from design to finishing.
- Generate a logical sequence of operations for a given sheet metal product, justifying the order of each step.
- Outline a step-by-step production plan for a chosen artefact, including the tools and equipment needed at each stage.
- Evaluate an existing sequence of operations and identify errors or improvements, explaining their reasoning.
- Work collaboratively in mixed-ability groups to research sequences of operations and present a coherent production plan for a real-life artefact.

Group work/collaborative learning: Organise the learners into mixed ability and gender inclusive groups with respect to others, task them to research on the sequence of operations and identify a design problem from a given situation Assessment (2.2.2.AS.5). The document marks these depth-of-knowledge levels for this indicator: Level 4 Extended critical thinking and reasoning. Teaching and Learning Materials: - metal forming tools - sketches /chart - video/YouTube - industrial visit - Sheet metal tools - real object - Soldering equipment
