Learning Objectives
Indicator: 3.2.1.LI.1 - Describe Economies of scale and Diseconomies of scale.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Define economies of scale and diseconomies of scale in their own words with accurate economic terminology.
- Identify and explain at least four internal economies of scale and two external economies of scale available to firms as they expand production.
- Describe at least three types of diseconomies of scale, including managerial and labour-related diseconomies, with clear examples.
- Explain the relationship between a firm’s scale of production and its long-run average cost curve, including the concept of minimum efficient scale.
- Research and present real-world examples of economies and diseconomies of scale from Ghanaian industries using internet sources.
