Lesson notes

Learning Objectives

Indicator: 2.2.2.LI.2 - Differentiate between change in quantity supplied and change in supply.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Distinguish between a change in quantity supplied and a change in supply using appropriate economic terminology.
  2. Illustrate, with correctly labelled diagrams, the difference between a movement along a supply curve and a shift of the entire supply curve.
  3. Identify the causes of a change in quantity supplied (price of the commodity) and the causes of a change in supply (factors other than price, such as cost of production, technology, and number of sellers).
  4. Explain, with practical examples, how each determinant of supply affects the position of the supply curve.
  5. Interpret given market scenarios and classify them correctly as either a change in quantity supplied or a change in supply.
