SHS2 Agriculture · Semester 2, Week 20
Agribusiness Mangement
Lesson notes
Learning Objectives
Indicator: 2.5.3.LI.4 - Discuss the managerial characteristics required for the management of agribusiness.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- List at least six managerial characteristics required for the successful management of an agribusiness.
- Explain how each managerial characteristic contributes to the day-to-day running of an agribusiness enterprise.
- Distinguish between effective and ineffective managerial behaviours by analysing short case scenarios.
- Assess the consequences of poor management on the viability of a selected agribusiness (Level 4: Extended critical thinking).
- Demonstrate, through role play, how a manager applies selected characteristics in a real agribusiness situation.
This lesson builds on the procedures for establishing agricultural enterprises (Week 17), sources of finance (Week 18), and record keeping (Week 19). Managerial characteristics tie these earlier topics together, since finance and records only yield results when a capable manager applies them.
