Learning Objectives

Indicator: 2.5.2.LI.2 - Discuss the various modes of communication in Agriculture.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Identify at least five distinct modes of communication used in agricultural enterprises (verbal, written, visual, electronic, and non-verbal).
Explain the advantages and limitations of each mode of communication in agricultural contexts.
Demonstrate at least three modes of communication through role-play or practical demonstration in small groups.
Match appropriate communication modes to specific agricultural situations (e.g., extension services, market pricing, farmer cooperatives).
Evaluate which communication mode is most effective for a given agricultural scenario and justify their choice with reasons.

Exemplars (from the NaCCA curriculum)

Think-pair-share: In pairs, learners surf the internet for information on the modes of communication in Agriculture and present their findings in class.
Project based learning: In a mixed- gender groups, learners watch a short documentary on the various modes of communication in Agriculture. They then practice the various modes of communication among other groups in class. Videos/pictures used should not enforce stereotyping and if they do, teachers should discuss them with learners.
