Learning Objectives

Indicator: 2.3.2.LI.2 - Discuss the need for conserving game and wildlife.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. State at least four reasons why game and wildlife conservation is necessary for Ghana’s development.
  2. Explain how game and wildlife contribute to ecological balance, biodiversity and food security.
  3. Discuss the economic, cultural and scientific benefits of conserving game and wildlife with specific reference to Ghanaian reserves such as Mole National Park and Kakum National Park.
  4. Evaluate the consequences of failing to conserve game and wildlife, using reasoning that shows strategic thinking (Level 3).
  5. Propose practical conservation actions that individuals, communities and the government can take, and defend their proposals in a class debate (Level 4).

Inquiry-based learning: In mixed-gender groups, learners surf the internet for information on the need to conserve game and wildlife.
Think-pair-share: In pairs, learners discuss the usefulness of conserving game and wildlife. Teacher should support and monitor learners in surfing for information from the internet.
