Learning Objectives

Indicator: 2.1.1.LI.2 - Explain the effects of land tenure systems on Agricultural production.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Explain at least three positive effects of land tenure systems on agricultural production in Ghana, using specific examples.
  2. Explain at least four negative effects of land tenure systems on agricultural production, relating them to real farming situations in Ghana.
  3. Analyse how each of the major land tenure systems (inheritance, leasehold, tenancy, and freehold) affects the decisions a farmer makes about investing in the land.
  4. Discuss how land tenure arrangements in Ghana impact women and persons with disabilities who are involved in agriculture.
  5. Administer a short questionnaire in the school community and present a brief report on the effects of land tenure on agricultural production.

Experiential learning (where applicable):
- Learners in gender-based groups develop questionnaires with a maximum of 5 questions to gather information on the effects of land tenure system on Agricultural production in the school community.
- Learners then analyse their results and write a report on the effect of land tenure system on Agricultural production.
Initiating talk for learning: Learners surf the internet to come up with information on the effect of land tenure system in Ghana and discuss the information.
All category of leaners should be encouraged to discuss the effects of the various land tenure systems on the operations of women and persons with disabilities involved in Agriculture.
