Learning Objectives

Indicator: 2.1.1.LI.2 - Discuss and describe the role of biomedical science professionals in forensics.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Define forensic science and explain how it connects to biomedical science practice.
  2. Identify at least three specific roles that biomedical science professionals play in forensic investigations.
  3. Describe how biological evidence (such as blood, saliva, or tissue samples) is collected, analysed, and used to support criminal investigations.
  4. Discuss the importance of accuracy, integrity, and ethical conduct when handling forensic evidence.
  5. Work collaboratively in mixed-gender and mixed-ability groups to analyse a forensic case scenario and present findings to the class.
